• Pathways to careers in Compliance or Risk Management
Interested in a career in risk management but don’t know how to get started? Risk management professionals help companies mitigate risk including safety (preventing risk) and insurance (protecting against risk). Similar to accountants or HR professionals, these careers exist in a variety of industries including banking, insurance, health care and construction. There are opportunities for all, from starting a career in compliance to transitioning from another career or even within a company into a successful compliance profession.

• Arizona State University, Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation – Health Care Compliance and Regulations, BS
This undergraduate degree program from ASU prepares graduates to address and solve complex problems for all aspects of health care compliance. Coursework emphasizes accreditation standards, auditing, ethical and legal leadership, and the most current compliance laws, regulations and policies. Our graduates are emerging regulatory experts qualified to lead in a variety of roles, including compliance analysts, coordinators, trainers, auditor, investigator and specialist.
• Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law – Master of Legal Studies (MLS) with a focus on Corporate and Healthcare Compliance
Learn how to find, interpret, and implement the rules and regulations that impact business practices on a daily basis. Whether the industry is health care, banking, human resources, insurance, or a small non-profit, careers in compliance are growing. The MLS is a flexible 30-credit graduate program for those interested in learning about the law, or whose work intersects with the law.
• GateWay Community College – Healthcare Regulatory Compliance Certificate
Program is designed to prepare compliance professionals for regulatory changes in health care. If you are a health care administrator, help your employees gain the knowledge to keep your facility or practice penalty-free. GateWay’s online certificate program for health care administrators, managers and others with supervisory responsibilities addresses rapidly changing health care compliance regulations.
• Rio Salado College – Insurance Studies Certificate of Completion
Program is designed to provide knowledge and skills training for various entry-level positions in the insurance industry. Courses include an introduction to the insurance industry and principles of property, liability, personal and commercial insurance.
• Rio Salado College – Associate in Applied Science in Insurance Studies
Program is designed for students interested in gaining foundational skills in the insurance industry. Courses provide a framework of knowledge including an introduction to the insurance industry, principles of property and liability insurance, personal and commercial insurance. The program also includes a Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Insurance Studies.
• Scottsdale Community College – Risk Management and Insurance Associate in Applied Science
Program is designed to provide students with foundational skills in insurance and risk management. This program encourages development of critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills as well as techniques for planning and organizing personal and business insurance strategies. Courses offer a framework of knowledge including an introduction to the insurance industry, risk management, principles of property and liability insurance, health, life, personal, and commercial insurance.
• Scottsdale Community College – Risk Management and Insurance Certificate of Completion
Program is designed to provide students with foundational skills in insurance and risk management. Courses offer a framework of knowledge including an introduction to the insurance industry, risk management, principles of property and liability insurance, health, life, personal, and commercial insurance.
Professional Associations & Certifications
Industry-related associations provide specific training and credentialing for specific skills and knowledge.
• Advancing Financial Crime Professionals Worldwide – Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
ACAMS set out with the mission to set an international standard for testing the knowledge of those entrusted with the detection and prevention of money laundering. What sprang from that concept was the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certification. Since its inception, CAMS has become the gold standard in AML certifications and is recognized by private institutions, governments and law enforcement.
• Arizona Bankers Association – Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager Certification
A comprehensive, convenient way to prepare for the CRCM designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers. Participants use the ABA Reference Guide to Regulatory Compliance as their study tool and have access to 10 hours of recorded lectures by an industry expert.
• Arizona Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) – Certified Professional and Senior Certified Professional Certifications
Many employers are now making SHRM Competency Based Certifications (Certified Professional), and SCP, (Senior Certified Professional), a “required” qualification for employment and are encouraging their existing HR employees to become certified. Obtaining your SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP can be challenging and structured content delivery is a proven way to increase your opportunity to pass the exam.
• Risk Management Society (RIMS) – Certified Risk Management Professional
The RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) is a credential that demonstrates your achievement of risk management competencies, knowledge and commitment to quality. It represents the standard of education, experience and ethics that the discipline requires.
