PHOENIX, Ariz. – ElevateEdAZ is proud to announce its expansion into the Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD). ElevateEdAZ is focused on preparing students in the Greater Phoenix region for college and career by aligning education to workforce learning pathways to serve the needs of Arizona’s leading industries. These efforts are aligned to help Valley business owners meet the growing workforce demand as more high-wage, high-demand employers expand in and relocate to Arizona.
“At Barry Goldwater High School one of our long-standing mantras has been to ‘Prepare students for life when they are 30 years old’,” said Anita Stulc, principal at Barry Goldwater High School. ”We want to make an impact on the community and we know we need to think beyond where students might work the year they graduate or what college they might attend. Community partners can open doors for students and we are grateful to embark on this partnership with ElevateEdAZ. We cannot do it alone and community partners will help us take education at Goldwater to the next level.”
Expanding ElevateEdAZ to DVUSD brings the number of participating schools up to 11 throughout the Greater Phoenix region. It will impact over 22,000 students and teachers through access to work-based learning engagements, job shadows, internships, externships, mock interviews, and more.
“We are excited about the ElevateEdAZ partnership with DVUSD to better prepare students for college and careers,” said Todd Sanders, president & CEO, Greater Phoenix Chamber. “This expansion will provide a greater reach in providing students opportunities to high-wage, high-demand pathways and opportunities to strengthen their skillsets for future careers.”
ElevateEdAZ is working with schools and school districts to:
- Increase the number of students completing high-wage, high-demand career pathways through stronger pathway articulation and career awareness activities.
- Increase attainment of industry-recognized credentials and early post-secondary credit by removing barriers to dual enrollment and incentivizing students and teachers for improved outcomes.
- Provide more students with work-based learning experiences to apply academics through internships and job shadows.
- Empower educators to reimagine classroom learning through educator externships where teachers learn skillsets industry leaders are seeking in job candidates and can access pathways and support systems to integrate these skills into their curriculum.
Adding DVUSD to the lineup supports those goals and will allow more students to access opportunities provided by ElevateEdAZ.
