Watch the video from the Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA) to see how ElevateEdAZ is helping connect classroom learning to real-world opportunity at Betty H. Fairfax High School.
Across Arizona, districts are redesigning the high school experience to better align with evolving workforce demands. As industries become more specialized, schools are working to ensure students graduate prepared for both postsecondary education and meaningful careers.
ElevateEdAZ was launched in 2020 to strengthen the connection between education and industry. What began with two schools in the Phoenix Union High School District has grown into a broader effort supporting career-connected learning across the region.
At Betty H. Fairfax High School, that vision is taking shape through a transition to a college and career academies model. Students participate in internships across the Valley, gaining hands-on experience in fields aligned to their pathway of study.
From health care systems to business and industry partners, students are developing professional communication skills, learning workplace expectations, and gaining clarity about their future goals. Teachers and staff work closely with students to ensure they are prepared to succeed and can connect their real-world experiences back to the classroom.
The result is greater confidence, stronger professional skills, and clearer post-graduation pathways.
